"my glasses"

Patient story: "My glasses"

A few years ago I had to undergo back surgery. I was scared, incredibly scared. I thought of everything that could go wrong, that I wouldn't wake up. I also see very poorly and normally glasses should not be taken into the operating room. I told my fears and concerns to the nurse and she promised to go with me to the operating room. This nurse stayed with me until I was asleep and made sure I was allowed to keep my glasses on. When I woke up, she was there again. With my glasses and especially a lot of support. I was in a lot of pain and somewhat panicked, but the small gesture of my glasses and her presence already made me much calmer. I am still grateful to her for that.
